Before you know it, summer will be right around the corner. So while you wait for the weather to warm up, you ought to try out Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan’s recipe for vanilla ice cream — with a healthy twist! Affectionately referred to as her “nice cream,” this sweet treat uses ripe bananas as the base, so you can have all the rich creaminess of ice cream… without the cream!
Ingredients
Here is everything that you will need to make Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan’s banana ice cream:
- 1 vanilla bean
- 5 ripe bananas (peeled, sliced and frozen)
- ½ cup milk
To make this recipe extra healthy and guilt-free, Natasha recommends using an unsweetened non-dairy milk, such as oat or almond milk. By making this substitution, you will not lose any flavor or deliciousness, but you will cut out some calories. And that certainly sounds like a worthwhile trade-off to this amateur baking enthusiast!
Directions
Step 1: Scrape away seeds from the vanilla bean.
Step 2: Combine the vanilla bean seeds, ½ cup of milk and chopped banana slices into a food processor. Process until the consistency is smooth.
Step 3: Place ice cream mixture into the freezer for a minimum of 4 hours.
Step 4: Once your nice cream is perfectly frozen, you may serve and enjoy!
