Start your day the Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan way with a banana bread iced latte! This recipe can be enjoyed hot or cold. The iced version is a sweet cold treat Natasha loves whipping out to beat the summer heat.. And you can too:
Coffee and banana bread have been a wonderful breakfast pairing since the beginning of… well, baking! At least, that’s how amateur baker Natasha Bannan’s taste buds feel. In the summer, this coffee lover swaps her hot mug for a crisp iced coffee. But there’s no reason she should have to give up her favorite fall flavors… not even on a hot summer’s day! Her banana bread latte offers all the coziness of autumn in a refreshing iced form for summer time. ‘Taste’ it out the next day you find yourself craving banana bread… when it’s too hot out to bake!
Ingredients
For Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan’s banana bread iced latte, you will need:
- ¾ cup oat milk
- ½ overripe banana
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1 shot espresso
- ¼ cup walnuts
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Soak walnuts in boiling water for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Remove walnuts from water and dry thoroughly. Add to a mortar and mash with pestle until the walnuts turn into a paste. Alternatively, you may chop the walnuts into fine pieces before adding to a blender to achieve a chunkier texture. Natasha Bannan recommends this for anyone who is a fan of her chunky peanut butter banana smoothie!
Step 3: Add oat milk, banana, cinnamon, nutmeg, espresso, walnut mixture and vanilla extract into a blender. Combine and then strain to remove walnut and banana chunks, if desired. But again, if you are looking for a more smoothie-like sip: keep those in.
Step 4: Leave your latte in the refrigerator to cool for at least two hours. Natasha also recommends setting some aside in the freezer for an extra chilly sweet treat to beat the summer heat!
