Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan is a former college basketball player. Although her days as an athlete are behind her, Natasha continues to be a fan of teams in the NCAA.
Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan is a huge basketball fan. She credits her love of the sport to her family, who have always loved the NBA. Her love of the game extends beyond the professional league though. Actually, if you ask Natasha, she’ll tell you that she prefers watching NCAA games over NBA games any day of the week! Part of that stems from her own former career as a college basketball player. But even before she hit the court for herself, Natasha always loved watching college basketball games.
Duke Blue Devils Men’s Basketball
Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan’s favorite college basketball team is the Duke Blue Devils. The NCAA Division I team has been a powerhouse for decades, with new talent pouring in season after season. Natasha prefers college basketball over the big leagues for that reason in particular: new talent. While the star of the team may stay the same for years in the NBA (if the team is lucky, that is!), the spotlight continues to shift in the NCAA. It certainly gives Natasha some insight into who may end up dominating the NBA in the future, as some of the NCAA’s stars continue on to go pro.
Johnny Dawkins, who played for the Duke Blue Devils from 1982 to 1986, is by far Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan’s favorite college basketball player — of all time! Dawkins has enjoyed a tremendous career, both as a player and coach. While at Duke, he set the record as the team’s all-time leading scorer for maintaining 2,556 points. This was held until 2006, when JJ Redick surpassed the leading score.
