Banana cream meets pumpkin pie in this unique take on a traditional Thanksgiving treat. ‘Wow’ your family, friends and loved ones this holiday season with this delicious pumpkin and banana recipe from Natasha Bannan’s kitchen:
Happy November, bakers and baked good lovers! As you know, the holiday season is just around the corner. Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan is most excited for her favorite holiday: Thanksgiving! A cozy and loving day full of togetherness, Thanksgiving has always felt like a warm hug to Natasha. And as the autumn chill settles in, warmth is just what everyone needs! One of Natasha’s favorite Thanksgiving desserts is actually a combination of two beloved treats: banana cream and pumpkin pie. The result is her famous homemade banana and pumpkin cream pie — the creamiest pumpkin pie with banana twist!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Banana Pumpkin Pie
1 ¾ cups milk
6 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
6 tablespoons of ripe banana
6 large yolks
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup cornstarch
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon pumpkin spice
3 tablespoons softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 premade pie crust
Banana Whipped Cream
1 ripe banana
1 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons brown sugar
Directions
Step 1: Begin by making the banana pumpkin pie. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, pumpkin puree and ripe bananas. Place the mixture on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Separately, combine egg yolks, brown sugar, cornstarch, salt and pumpkin spice in another medium saucepan. Whisk the mixture together until smooth and remove from heat just before steam appears.
Step 2: Heat oven to 350 F. Grease pie dish with butter before placing prepared pie crust in pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until the crust achieves a golden brown color.
Step 3: This is Natasha Bannan’s favorite part: whipping up the banana whipped cream! The amateur baker recommends using a blender for this step. Mix the ripened banana until the consistency is that of a smooth puree. Leave to chill in the refrigerator while whipping heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Fold together and then spread the cream on top of your pumpkin-banana pie.
Voila! Let Natasha Bannan know if this unique and tasty Thanksgiving treat is a favorite at your next family holiday gathering. And stay tuned for more banana based recipes!
